Palmistry Art

Tantric illustraion relating to palmistry. Rajasthan, probably Mewar, circa 1820-40. Opaque watercolour with gold and silver on wasli. 15.2 x 10.2cm

As I have said before, but now looking deeper into my project....My PDP....

For my Brief I have decided to use ‘ Hands’ as my theme ,basing the idea on ‘Palmistry’,
The lines on our hands can often be like the rings on a tree trunk, indicating our roots, our abilities and character traits  and our destinys.
I am going to explore the human hands and the mark we as artists leave on the world in a colourful and explorative way.
I will be focussing on the shape, lines and forms of the hands ,and hopefully creating an exciting and visually interesting piece.

I would like to make multiple hand shaped prints on handmade paper, and experiment with Batik dyeing and using inks to create unique and different effects.
I would like to take handprints from volunteers in our class , friends and family.and print them onto handmade paper using perspex and using monoprint.
The mediums I would like to experiment with are oils, acrylics, gouache ,printmaking, dyeing ,batik, handmade paper and collage.
