Slide show presentation for David Sweeny

I chose to do my Slide show presentation on Tragic Ballets and Female Heroines.I was a bit nervous but I think it went quite well, although for my final presentation I think I could rehearse it more.
Ballet is something that has always interested me as a young girl my Mum used to take me to lessons.
In February 2013 on our visit to Prague, I was fortunate to be able to see the Russian Ballet perform'Giselle 'at the Prague State Opera House.I t was truly fascinating and I would recommend the experience to anyone!
Although I often wondered why so many Ballets end in tragedy and so many female heroines the same,I decided to do my presentation discussing the issues that female Heroines face and what eventually brings them to their fates.

Final submission for 'Multiples ' Project

My work consists of a series of Mono and Intaglio Prints reflecting 'Subversion' in the city of Edinburgh
I have tried to convey the themes through printmaking the cities architecture and using old Edinburgh slang in silk screen print.
The different sizes of the buildings represent the different social standings and the Slang represents the multiple dialogues and character of Edinburgh city life.

Pathways and Contexts report for Paul

Introduction
During the duration of my report I will be discussing seven different up and coming  artists  and designers in the three different categories I have chosen to independently research and convey their  means of expression in the fields of art pathways I will be choosing to follow.
I will be discussing their exhibitions, approaches to mediums, application, style and concept.
The 3 categories are ‘Printmaking and Painting’, ‘Visual Communication’ and ‘Sculpture’.
In painting and printmaking I will be discussing and evaluating the works of Gabriella Trzebinski, Colin Park and Nicola Slattery, their individual styles, the  interesting themes they portray and techniques they use.
In visual communication, I will be looking at the work of American based design company ‘Moonish’ and English based designer Carmen Roome . I find their work unique and inspiring.
For Sculpture I will be reporting on the work of John Brown  which is based on the human figure and Environmental Sculptor Andy Goldsworthy who uses natural mediums to create beautiful organic formations.
I have chosen to discuss these particular artists as I feel the way they approach their work reflects my personal interest in these chosen fields.
One of the pathways the artists have in common is a natural ability to convey social, environmental, practical or spiritual  issues through their work.

I have always enjoyed looking at creating simple and organic form and shape, so this essay has been an interesting journey for me to explore the world and art of these people.

Nicola Slattery

Completely loving Nicola Slattery's new piece'' Girl with tulips'' in Acrylics  inspired by the Dutch masters such as Vermeer. she writes "Girl with Tulips" is a recent painting using acrylics on wood. I have always admired the Dutch masters, especially Vermeer. Perhaps my painting is a sort of homage to them. I especially like the dark interiors and illuminated features which glow against the darkness.
I wonder if Vermeer were alive today he might give acrylics a try?
